The aim of this article is to present the evolution of relations between the EC/EU and the ASEAN as two structures of regional cooperation and integration, which in time have been transformed into regional international intergovernmental organizations, as well as characterizing their nature and the current state of their mutual cooperation. Therefore, it discusses: relations between the EC and the ASEAN in the Cold War period, the most important determinants of their mutual relations in the post Cold War period, the evolution of the base of the EU-ASEAN cooperation after the end of the Cold War and the most important results of the development of political and economic relations.
